Hi, I’m Stephanie, the artist behind Millie Jean Photography. I feel so grateful to be able to capture very special milestones for families and to create images that will be forever treasured.

A bit about me…I am a mom to two awesome children. I come from a big family who always valued capturing memories on film. I remember my dad carting around his heavy, brown leather camera case on all of our vacations so I guess you can say my love of photography started early.

My first work in photography was photofinishing throughout high school and university, back when people still developed film. After that I followed my second passion, teaching, and was an elementary teacher for 12 years. Everything changed once I became a mom! Having a family reignited my love of photography. I resumed my education in photography and through various classes, workshops, and mentoring with seasoned photographers, I began Millie Jean Photography.

What’s in a name…The name Millie Jean represents motherhood and family. Two very important women in my life were my grandmothers. My business is named in their honour. They were both inspirational examples of caring, driven women who balanced family and careers.

Some bragging…Over the last 5 years, I have earned several awards and certifications that I am really proud of. I have received the Platinum Award for 2018 and 2019 for best photography studio by the Burlington Reader’s Choice Awards. In 2020, 2021 and 2022 I won an award for best photographer in Burlington by Community Votes! I have earned qualifications as a profession newborn photographer, including safety certified, by the APNPI (Accredited Professional Newborn Photographers International). My images have also been awarded 5 winner badges through the AFNS awards (an international competition for professional photographers in the field of newborn and maternity photography).
